Commodore's Challenge - 2024

Details of this year's Commodore's Challenge have just been released.

This year's Challenge is to build a model of a WW2 landing Craft - with a difference.

See the Commodore's Challenge page for full details, and links from where you can download copies of the plans in .PDF format.

If any member can not print the plans themselves, Chris Galloway or Geoff Garside can supply paper copies.

Judging will take place on a date yet to be announced, but will not be before the end of August.

A Date for Your Diary

 Marple Carnival - Saturday 15 June 2024

The club has accepted an invitation to put on a display of boats at Marple Carnival on Saturday 15 June.

Last year's event in the Memorial Park was a great success and the organisers are hoping for even greater things this year.

Sailing will be available on the top lock of the canal.

Make sure you put this date in your diaries. George Barrett, the Exhibitions Secretary, will be asking for entries of boats in due course.

The first edition of the Club Directory for 2024 has now been published. This lists contact details of all Club members who have consented to be included.

Membership Subscriptions

All members should by now have received a subscription renewal request, either by post or Email. If for any reason you have not received your renewal request, please contact Geoff Garside, the Hon. Treasurer. Contact details are on the Contact Us page.

Subscription renewal rates for 2024 are the same as 2023.

The renewal date for all members is January 01 and, under Club Rules, subscriptions must be renewed by the end of February.

Model Boat Mayhem Show

 Model Boat Mayhem Show

We have received an invitation for the Club and all Club members to attend the sixteenth annual Model Boat Mayhem show at Wicksteed Park, Northamptonshire on Saturday and Sunday 25-26 May 2024.

This is claimed to be the biggest dedicated model boat show in the world, and there will be free sailing on both Saturday and Sunday.

There will be a number of traders attending, along with the RNLI,  a huge bring and buy sale and onsite catering.

On site camping is available and Kettering town centre hotels and shops are nearby.

A reminder that judging of boats for this year's model building competitions is on Sunday October 29, on the landing stage.

Judging of the Commodore's Challenge will take place at the same time.
